Happy Holidays from Claire Affleck Training!

The A Team had a very successful first show of the season at Corner Haven Farm!  Payton competed in walk-trot-canter classes for the first time.  She and Navigator earned a 4th and 5th place ribbons in some very large and competitive classes.  Lily rode Roani Toni, owned by Michelle, in the Open Flat classes as well as the 18″ jumping division and earned an armful of 2nd and 3rd place ribbons.  Reagan rode Navigator in the Open Flat classes as well as the 2’6″ jumping division.  She earned a 4th place in her first Marshall & Sterling Medal class and won 1st prize in the Marshall & Sterling Bit ‘O Straw Hunter Classic!  Well done team!

This past December my dear childhood riding friend, Karen, suffered from a stroke that left her throat and left side of her body paralyzed.  Through riding, Claire Affleck Training is helping be a part of her recovery.  She not only is gaining physical strength, coordination and balance back through riding, but Karen states that even being around the horses is good for her mind and soul.  We’ll keep you posted on Karen’s amazing progress, and again, we feel so lucky to be a part of her incredible journey!

Saturday was the Opening Meet for Genesee Valley Hunt.  We began with a  parade down Main Street, Geneseo, NY.  The parade was followed by a very exciting hunt in which we chased four different fox and had an amazing view of the second one.  After the hunt breakfast was held at the beautiful Homestead of the Wadsworth family.  What a fantastic day!

Norman competed at the Autumn In New York Horse Show.  This was his first ‘A’ rated show and he placed 4th in the Hunter Under saddle!

Congrats A Team! On Sunday at Corner Haven Farm Norman won the Open Hunter Saddle and Over Fences classes, and Lily and Pirate placed 2nd in Open Hunter Pleasure, 6th in Open Hunter Under Saddle, and 6th Over Fences! Well done team!

On Sunday, Hailey and I participated in Limestone Creek’s Opening Hunt and Blessing of the Hounds. We had a picture perfect day and a lovely time!
