On Friday, October 16th we begin our fall riding session for Freedom Recreation Services! FRS provides recreational activities for children with special needs.  We are the lucky hosts of the riding program! We always encourage our fellow riders and members of the community to participate in this wonderful program by coming out to the farm and volunteering. No horseback riding experience is required to volunteer. We truly enjoy our time working with these amazing children and would love to have you come out and experience it for yourself!

The dates and times are as follows:

Nov. 6th 5-6pm

Nov. 7th 9:30am-12pm

Nov.13th 5-6pm

Nov 14th 9:30am-12pm

Dr.Robert Kiltz of CNY Fertility/CNY Healing Arts/CNY Fertility Kid’s Club, the event’s sponsor, Mary Ellen of Freedom Recreation Services, and myself enjoying the beautiful day!

On Saturday we hosted a fund raiser for Freedom Recreation Services, the organization
that provides funding for the riding program for children with special needs that I host.
We had beautiful weather all day and a great turn out! I’d like to thank everyone who
helped bring this all together and made it run so smoothly.  I’d also like to send out a
big thanks to the Molly Shea Band for keeping us all rockin’!  We also had face painting,
a cookout, a magic show, and of course, horse rides!

On Sunday Novemeber 30th, I was interviewed on the WSTM local channel 3 news morning show. (To see the article click here.) The interview was about our work with Freedom Recreation Services. It was really fun being on the news and it was great exposure for Freedom Recreation! We hope to get more children involved with their program as well as the riding program. For more information on becoming involved with Freedom Recreation contact Mary Ellen at 315-253-5465.

Keri, who first joined us this spring through the Freedom Recreation Services riding program, has now started taking lessons on a regular basis.  Her first day at the barn she was nervous and only wanted to ride the smallest horse we had, Rannita.  Now she rides Geronimo (our biggest horse at 17hh!) for her lessons.  We are so proud of what Keri has accomplished.  She has written us an essay about riding and I’d like to share it with all of you…Enjoy!

“At first, before I got the hang of riding Geronimo I was afraid to get on him.  But when I got on him I wasn’t afraid to get on him.  Also after getting on him he made me happy and also he made me feel brave.  When I have lessons and when they are over I can’t wait until the next lesson.  And so when they are over I give him a treat to eat to tell him he did a good job.  Now we are at the end.  Here’s how much I really enjoy Geronimo…he’s a funny horse and he is a lovable horse. I really love him!”
